IMPLEMENTATION TIPS FOR TEACHERS

✅ Keep it short and sacred,  even 5 intentional minutes makes a difference

✅ Integrate into existing circle time, morning meetings, or reading blocks

✅ Let students take turns reading cards or leading a “heart moment”

✅ Revisit stories throughout the year, their lessons deepen with time

✅ Use stories as springboards for art, journaling, and group projects

📙READING TIP

Stories don't need to be read all at once. Just 5 or 10 minutes a day can keep children's attention fresh, spark curiosity, and leave them eager for tomorrow's chapter.

DAILY CLASSROOM ROUTINE ( 5 - 15 Minutes)

1.  Morning Heart-Set: Positive Thinking Card (2–5 mins)

Invite each child to choose or receive a Positive Thinking Card.

Brief sharing: “Who’d like to read their card out loud today?”

Discussion: “What might this card help you remember today?”

SEL Focus: Self-awareness, emotional regulation, mindfulness

2.  Story Time (1–2 stories per week)

Read one Butterfly Kidz story aloud (approx. 5–10 mins)

Reflective questions: “How did the character listen to their heart?” “What would you do in that moment?”

SEL Focus: Empathy, perspective-taking, values-based decision-making

3. Magic Moment Activity (1–2 times per week)

Choose from activities linked to each story. Examples:

“Unhook the T from Can’t”
Help children recognize limiting self-talk and reframe:
“I can’t do this” → “I can try a new way.”

“Heart Breathing”
Teach calm focus: hands on heart, deep breath in, soft exhale, and a feeling word: “Today I feel…”

“Feelings Rainbow”
Let students draw or color how they feel, connecting emotions to color (useful for non-verbal expression)

SEL Focus: Self-expression, confidence-building, emotional intelligence

🎩 Pull a Rabbit from Your Hat! Teacher Tricks

"Warning: May cause spontaneous classroom joy, increased emotional vocabulary, and mysterious appearances of student confidence."

1.  "Affirmations Light Up the Brain’s 'I Can Do This!' Circuit.

"What Happens: Saying “I am brave" or “I am loved" activates the prefrontal cortex (problem-solving) and reward centers - literally building neural pathways for confidence .

For You: “Just 2 minutes of daily affirmations can rewire a child’s brain toward resilience."

2. "They Cancel Out Stress Like a Reset Button.

"What Happens: Anxious kids who repeat “I am safe" show lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels within weeks - their bodies start believing it .

For You: “Use affirmations as a calming tool during meltdowns or bedtime - it’s science-backed deep breathing for the mind."

3. They Work Like Invisible Armor Against Failure.

"What Happens: Marginalized students who used affirmations improved grades by 40% - not because they were smarter, but because they believed they could learn .

For You: “Affirmations aren’t fluffy -they’re stealthy tools to protect against 'I’m not good enough' thoughts."

THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT:

Results You’ll Notice

✅  Calmer, more focused classroom energy

✅  Increased self-awareness and emotional vocabulary

✅  Stronger peer connection and empathy

✅  Students empowered to make kind, confident choices - from the inside out
